About Us
Housing Options is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that offers affordable supportive housing and support from social workers, counselors, case managers, psychiatrists, and a nurse to adults recovering from chronic mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and severe depression. We provide a safe, dignified living arrangements and an alternative to homelessness and unnecessary institutionalization.
Housing Options operates both Residential Programs and a Non-Residential Program. In the Residential Programs, the agency operates 6 apartment buildings it owns and approximately 20 additional apartments it leases. Housing Options provides permanent housing and support services to adults with mental illnesses, many of whom have been homeless in the past.
Launched in the fall of 2006, the Non-Residential Program serves individuals diagnosed with chronic mental illness, who live independently or with family. Housing Options introduced this program to increase the number of individuals it serves by including those people who live independently with chronic mental illnesses, as well as those provisionally accepted and on the waiting list for an apartment in its housing program. The goal is also to serve individuals with chronic mental illnesses who have transitioned out of the Residential Programs, and those with custody of minor children.
More than 13,000 hours of mental health services and 27,000 days and nights of affordable housing are provided annually.
