Kreiman House
First acquired in 1993, this three unit building, home to six individuals, was originally called Bell House after a bell constructed of chains formerly used in institutions. In 2006, the building was renamed Kreiman House, after Alice Kreiman, a founding member of Housing Options.
Alice was a vital Housing Options supporter for 14 years, and died at the age of 71 at her home on January 31, 2007. She was a beloved Evanston resident, well known for her volunteerism, leadership and advocacy.
For all these contributions and more, Housing Options named this building as a symbol of Alice’s leadership to the community. “Naming Kreiman House for Alice was an honor and a logical step for this wonder-woman, who cared so much and worked so hard to make things happen in our community," said Carol Mullins, board member, long-time friend of Alice, and host of the Kreiman House naming event, held on November 26, 2006.
